BEIJING, July 15 (Xinhua) -- China's labor market remained generally stable, with the survey-based urban unemployment rate falling from 5.1 percent in May to 5 percent in June.
According to data released by China's National Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday, the survey-based average urban unemployment rate in the first half of the year was 5.2 percent.
While the unemployment rate among locally registered urban residents was 5 percent in June, this rate was 4.9 percent for migrant workers.
The survey-based urban unemployment rate in China's 31 major cities decreased to 5 percent in June, from 5.1 percent in May.
Deputy Director of the National Bureau of Statistics, Mao Shengyong, stated at the press conference that the Chinese economy remained within a reasonable range in the first half of the year, and that activities will be accelerated in order to support the stable development of employment, enterprises and markets and stabilize market expectations.
China, which has set a target of keeping the survey-based urban unemployment rate at approximately 5.5 percent for 2026, aims to create more than 12 million new urban jobs within the year.
