26-year-old Muhammed Abdullah Özeren, who managed to overcome lymph cancer 3 times in Adana, supports those struggling with the same disease and their families after the difficult treatment process.
Özeren, who lives in the central Çukurova district, was diagnosed with lymphoma 4 years ago.
Özeren, who was treated for 6 months at Çukurova University (CU) Faculty of Medicine Balcalı Hospital and Adana City Training and Research Hospital, managed to overcome the disease.
Özeren, whose disease relapsed after a while, had an autologous stem cell transplant (self-stem cell transplant) in 2023, upon the recommendation of his doctors.
Özeren, who relapsed with the disease for the third time after the transplant, managed to overcome it after a struggle that lasted about a year.
Özeren, who is a volunteer of the Health and Education Foundation for Children with Leukemia (LÖSEV), which always supported him during his nearly 4-year cancer process, started working as a public relations personnel at LÖSEV a year ago.
In addition to paying close attention to the patients and their families who apply to the foundation, Özeren tries to provide morale and motivation by sharing his experiences.
Muhammed Abdullah Özeren told the AA correspondent that he was happy to regain his health after a very difficult treatment process.
Stating that he won his battle with cancer three times, Özeren said, "Of course, it is a difficult process for a 22-year-old person to get this disease, but I always believed that I would overcome this disease. I am currently continuing my check-ups, but there is no disease in my body." he said.
Özeren stated that LÖSEV was with him at every moment of this difficult struggle.
Stating that he decided to be a part of the LÖSEV family because he was affected by this situation, Özeren said:
"I have overcome this disease three times, and now I am here to give hope to young people and children who are recovering. I am happy when I work here. When the disease relapses, some people come to us feeling demoralized, and we lost our morale and motivation in the same way, but we saw that this was not a situation that would demoralize us. We are trying to give morale to people."
LÖSEV Provincial Coordinator Betül Özgüven stated that Özeren's struggle gives hope to patients and said, "It is very valuable that our recovered young people are with us and provide this moral support." he said.
