NBA President Adam Silver said that they are in the process of finalizing offers for some cities within the scope of the NBA Europe project.
Speaking at the press conference held after the NBA Board of Directors meeting held in Las Vegas, USA, Silver stated that they are at exactly the point they hoped for in the NBA Europe project.
Silver said, "Mark Tatum, who managed the process, is also here with us today. We have received great interest from many cities in Europe, even from different cities that we did not invite to bid."
Stating that they will hold meetings with European stakeholders in New York to shape the project, Silver said, "As we shared in our meeting with our board of directors today, we are in the process of finalizing the offers for some cities. A significant part of the European stakeholders involved in the bid process will be in New York for the World Cup Final to be played on Sunday. We will hold meetings with them together with Mark. We hope to finalize some of these agreements in the next few weeks and then make the necessary announcements. But in general, I am very pleased with the intense interest shown in basketball across Europe."
The NBA Europe project is planned to be implemented in October 2027, in partnership with the NBA and FIBA, with semi-open league status.
Istanbul is expected to host one of the 12 permanent clubs expected to take part in the league.
