Haluk Levent, who was arrested in the investigation carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the Friends Association, was also questioned about the allegations of Başaran Holding Chairman of the Board of Directors, Hüseyin Başaran, during the prosecutor's interrogation. Allegedly, 22 real estate properties with a current value of approximately 60 million dollars were attempted to be acquired by fraudulent means by Haluk Levent and other suspects.
In his statement at the prosecutor's office, Haluk Levent flatly rejected the allegations that the real estate transfers in question were fraudulent. Stating that the incident took place on a purely commercial scale, the famous artist defended himself with the following words:
"The subject of the investigation consists of a debt-paying relationship. I did not commit a crime, I am innocent."
Levent's lawyer objected to the figures and accusations in the file. Stating that they do not accept the claim that the value of the real estate is 60 million dollars, the lawyer stated that all sales and transfer transactions were carried out with the completely free will of the parties.
In the application made by businessman Cem Başaran to the Gaziosmanpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the President of the Friends Association, Haluk Levent, it was claimed that his immovable properties worth approximately 60 million dollars were taken over fraudulently.
In the application petition, it was claimed that many immovable properties were transferred with the promise that "a dormitory would be built for orphaned female students" and that funds would be provided from abroad, but payments were not made.
In the petition, it was claimed that a total of 22 real estate properties in Istanbul, Trabzon and Karaman were transferred first to Yeliz Kaya and then to Esin Önder Çağlayan and her affiliated companies. Başaran Group stated that the total value of the real estate is approximately 60 million dollars.
