Beşiktaş announced that Arsenal has added Belgian national winger Leandro Trossard to its squad.
In the video shared on the club's social media accounts, Trossard said "I'm coming to Beşiktaş" while wearing a black and white jersey.
In a statement on its website, Arsenal stated that the 31-year-old football player went to Istanbul to undergo health checks and complete the transfer procedures.
BBC Sports Service wrote that Arsenal will receive 20 million euros as a transfer fee.
The player, who scored 36 goals and made 34 assists in 174 matches for Arsenal, contributed to Mikel Arteta's team reaching the Premier League championship last season.
Trossard; He started the match in the first 11 in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain and in 21 matches in the league.
In this summer's World Cup, where Belgium reached the quarter-finals, Trossard was in the starting 11 in all six matches and scored two goals.
Trossard will be a part of the radical change in the Beşiktaş squad, which has fallen behind Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe in the Super League race in recent years.
Beşiktaş, which will face Midtjylland in the second qualifying round of the Europa League on July 23, transferred Kassoum Ouattara from Monaco to the left back, Salih Özcan from Dortmund to the midfield, Doğan Alemdar from Başakşehir and Alexander Nübel from Bayern Munich to the goalkeeper before this critical match.
Trossard, who is prominent in the elite category in European football, won the Premier League championship with Arsenal last season; He wore the jersey of his country, Belgium, which was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
Trossard, who was transferred from the Belgian Genk club, in whose youth team he played, to Brighton Hove Albion, one of the Premier League representatives, for 16 million euros in the 2019-20 season, made his real rise here.
He scored 25 goals and 15 assists in 121 matches for the blue and white club, where he played for four seasons in total.
His role in the game setup and his effective finishing ability paved the way for his transfer to Premier League giants Arsenal in the 2022-23 season.
Arsenal paid a transfer fee of 30 million euros for the football player.
Trossard, who has an important place in Arsenal's squad, especially in the Premier League matches, scored 36 goals and made 34 assists in 174 matches in all competitions in four seasons.
Eren Tutel, sports editor of BirGün newspaper, says that Trossard is not "a wing player who steps on the line in the classical sense and constantly chases one-on-one."
Making evaluations to BBC Turkish, Tutel says, "He is a football player who moves around in different parts of the offensive line, reads the spaces well and is effective by approaching the center of the game."
The football player played on the left wing in 120 of the matches he played with Arsenal, at number nine in 25, as the second striker in eight, as number ten in six and on the right wing in four.
Stating that although the Belgian football player started the matches on the left wing, he often entered the inner lane during the attack, Tutel said, "He can also be used as number 10, second striker or false nine when necessary. This versatility is a serious advantage for the coach."
Football commentator Sinan Yılmaz from the YouTube channel Saha İçi describes Trossard as "a wing with playmaker and leader qualities".
According to Yılmaz, who spoke to BBC Turkish, the Belgian will be the offensive brains of Beşiktaş.
Eren Tutel from BirGün also speaks highly of Trossard's game intelligence:
"He is a player who controls his surroundings before the ball reaches his feet and plans his next move in advance. He knows well when to enter the penalty area, in which area there will be space and where the defensive line can be broken. For this reason, he is effective not only with the ball at his feet, but also in the game without the ball."
Tutel also adds that Trossard is not a very fast player. However, he also reminds us that his first step is quick, his body tricks are successful and he can change direction in a tight space:
"He does not try to pass his opponent with physical speed in every position. He progresses by receiving the ball at the right angle, making short pass connections and disrupting the balance of the defense. His propensity for single pass play especially around the penalty area and his success in wall passes draw attention."
Tutel warns that the player's influence may decrease from time to time in matches where physical contact is very high and he must constantly run in wide areas, and says, "For this reason, Vincenzo Italiano can use him in a role close to the penalty area and with freedom of movement, instead of using him by confining him to the line."
Beşiktaş's offensive line includes players such as Oh Hyeon-gyu, Junior Olaitan, Mustafa Hekimoğlu and Semih Kılıçsoy.
Sinan Yılmaz states that a game mind is a must for the Beşiktaş offensive line, which he defines as "well-intentioned, hard-working, but does not yet have enough creativity and game mind".
Stating that although this was what was expected from Cerny, it was not enough, Yılmaz says, "Trossard is a name that has proven itself much more in this regard."
Eren Tutel also points out the difficulties Beşiktaş has in producing attacks against established defences.
He states that Trossard may be the right profile to solve this problem.
Stating that Beşiktaş should change from the image of a team that only expects goals from its center forward, Tutel said, "One of Trossard's most important contributions is sharing the scoring load." He says.
Trossard's transfer to the black and white team created excitement in the football community. It is a situation we have witnessed frequently in recent years that football players with such international careers prefer the Super League.
Footballers such as Asensio in Fenerbahçe, Icardi and Osimhen in Galatasaray, and Orkun Kökçü in Beşiktaş were in the Super League last season.
According to Tutel, after the age of 31, it may become difficult for Trossard to become a regular starting 11 player in a highly competitive team like Arsenal, and therefore it is natural for the player to look for a project where he can get more playing time and be at the center of the team at this stage.
BirGün's sports editor says, "A football player who is a rotation player in England will become one of the leaders of the attack in Beşiktaş. He will assume the main responsibility in the attack and will be one of the most prominent players of the team," and adds:
"For a football player, it is not only important in which league he plays, but also how valuable he feels."
The annual salaries that players with this profile will receive in Türkiye also make Turkish clubs very attractive.
Sinan Yılmaz says that Trossard did what he would do in the World Cup, Champions League and Premier League, that is, in the highest level football venues.
For this reason, Yılmaz states that "he is now looking for a place where he can both earn money and lead with peace of mind" and continues as follows:
"The Arabian market has shrunk a little, China and Russia are finished... Now Turkey has started to give this money and we are participating in UEFA tournaments. Moreover, we are closer to Belgium. I think we will be a center of attraction for such transfers, but we need to be careful. We need to spend the money on the right players."
However, Tutel is of the opinion that explaining the issue only in terms of money would be incomplete.
"Beşiktaş is still a strong brand with its large fan base and the possibility of playing in European cups. Istanbul is also an attractive city for foreign football players due to its social life.
"Especially for players who have previously lived in big cities in Europe, Istanbul is not a place where they will feel alienated."
