Olcay Baykal (88), wife of the late former CHP Chairman Deniz Baykal, passed away at the hospital where she was receiving treatment in Antalya. Baykal's body was taken to Ankara for burial.
Olcay Baykal, the wife of Deniz Baykal, who was receiving treatment at Antalya Kepez State Hospital, passed away this morning. Olcay Baykal's body was transported to Antalya Airport by a hearse belonging to Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, and from there, it was sent to Ankara by air for burial. It was stated that Olcay Baykal would be laid to rest next to the late Deniz Baykal on Friday.
Olcay Baykal, who was a teacher by profession, secretly married Deniz Baykal, who was then a lawyer and later became the former CHP Chairman, in 1963. Deniz Baykal took Olcay Baykal to Akçakoca on the Black Sea coast, where they got married and later informed their families about the wedding. Deniz Baykal, who passed away 3 years ago, and his high school sweetheart Olcay Baykal, have two children named Ataç and Aslı.
