A commemoration program was held in FATİH on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day. As part of the program, the crowd gathered at Fatih Mosque and walked to Anıt Park, accompanied by the Janissary Band, with unfurled flags.

A commemoration program was organized by Istanbul Governorship, Fatih Municipality and NGOs on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day. Governor of Istanbul Davut Gül, Mayor of Fatih Mehmet Ergün Turan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Science Dissemination Foundation Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan and Garrison commanders attended the program. Citizens gathered in Fatih Mosque and walked to Fatih Monument Park with flags and accompanied by the Janissary Band. At the end of the cortege, the concert prepared by the Fatih Municipality Mehter band in Anıt Park was watched with interest. The program included recitation of the Holy Quran and prayers. After a moment of silence for the martyrs, the National Anthem was sung.

Speaking at the program, Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Science Dissemination Foundation, said, "10 years ago, we actually experienced the perseverance, determination, acumen and courage of this nation in the streets, squares and avenues all over Türkiye. I believe that the night of July 15 was the most important turning point of a people's revolution that our President started in 2002. The night of July 15 was the turning point of this nation's liberation from the shackles that were wanted to be put on them. And I believe that Since that day, we have started to become a nation with a different self-confidence, aiming for a brighter future and oriented towards more global goals. In other words, like a Phoenix waking up from the ashes, after July 15, it started to find itself, to stand up and to better understand what it can actually do. With God's permission, we named this new Red Apple as 'Turkey Century', if we are to say that the blood of our July 15 martyrs was not shed in vain. "We will succeed by achieving the Türkiye Century goals," he said.

'THIS NATION HAS TAKEN THIS STATE FROM THE EDGE OF THE CLIFFS'

Istanbul Governor Davut Gül said, "Our emotions are mixed. We are both happy and sad. We are sad, angry, resentful. We have 253 martyrs. Apart from our 253 martyrs, we have veterans. I am not just saying this as a statistic. We just saw it in letters. We saw it in the burials 10 years ago. We witnessed the burial of the police officers who were martyred when a bomb was dropped on the Special Operations Department in Gölbaşı. Therefore, it is possible for us to forget this." It is not possible for us to forget this. Besides, we have a victory that is rare in the world. What happened? In short, we were faced with an invasion attempt that looked like a coup and stole our tanks, guns and people. As a result of this, the wisdom and courage of our nation and the efforts of patriotic officers within the Turkish Armed Forces. "With the sacrifice of our organization, the sacrifice of our nation and, more importantly, with the help of God, this nation has taken this state from the edge of the cliff," he said.
