A march accompanied by the Janissary Band was held in Sinop within the scope of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.

Protocol members and many citizens attended the march held within the scope of the commemoration programs organized on the 10th anniversary of the treacherous coup attempt of July 15. The cortege departed from the historical Guild Gate, accompanied by the Janissary Band, and walked to Uğur Mumcu Square via Sakarya Street. While hundreds of people from ages 7 to 70 participated in the march, the mehter marches echoed along the street, and the citizens along the route watched the mehter band with interest.

The Democracy Watch program held in Uğur Mumcu Square started with the show of the janissary band. After a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, the Quran was recitation. The program continued with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's address to the public being watched on the screen.

Speaking later, Sinop Governor Mustafa Özarslan stated that the Turkish nation defended democracy on the night of July 15, 2016 and said, "On the night of July 15, 2016, the treacherous FETO terrorist organization, which targeted the independence of our nation, the survival of our state and our democracy, attempted one of the most despicable betrayals in our history. However, there was something they could not calculate. In front of them was a great nation that had engraved its faith in its heart, its flag in its hands, and the love of the homeland in its soul." Under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, millions of people flocked to the squares, stood in front of the tanks, shielded their chests from the gunfire and declared one truth to the whole world: This nation will not kneel. he said.
