In Georgia, a commemoration program was organized by the Turkish Embassy in Tbilisi within the scope of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
The program, hosted by Türkiye's Ambassador to Tbilisi Mustafa Türker Arı, started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem.
Speaking at the event attended by embassy employees, representatives of Turkish institutions in Georgia, Turkish businessmen, Turkish citizens in Tbilisi and other guests, Arı thanked those who came to the program.
Noting that they commemorate all martyrs with respect today, Arı said:
"Our commemoration ceremony started this morning with the recitation of the Holy Quran at the mosque in Tbilisi, with the hope that the souls of our citizens who resisted the members of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) who attempted a treacherous coup on July 15, 2016, took to the streets upon the call of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and lost their lives as a result of the fire opened by the traitors, rest in peace."
Pointing out that terrorism is one of the biggest threats to international peace and security, Arı said, "Today, we are witnessing the destruction caused by different terrorist organizations in various countries and regions of the world." he said.
Arı stated that Türkiye, as one of the countries that sacrificed the most to terrorism, continues to be at the forefront of anti-terrorism activities at the national level as well as internationally, and continued as follows:
"With this vision and in order to create more effective struggle mechanisms, we continue our initiatives on bilateral and multilateral platforms. As a state and nation, on the night of July 15, 2016, we resisted an occupation attempt disguised as a coup in the strongest possible way."
Stating that FETO, a foreign-backed terrorist organization, showed its dark side to the world on July 15, Arı said, "Those responsible for the death of 253 of our citizens are accountable to justice and to the Turkish nation who put their lives on the line that night." he said.
Sharing information about FETO's activities, Arı continued his words as follows:
"Turkey continues to fight tirelessly and determinedly against FETO and other national and international threats. Thanks to these efforts and our international cooperation, the global activities of the organization have been and are being disrupted. On the other hand, this terrorist organization is trying to become visible in the press again with the victim discourse and to spread false news. A permanent solution to the terrorist threat can only be achieved with concrete cooperation at the international level. In this respect, cooperation between states becomes even more important."
Ambassador Arı said, "The will of our nation is our greatest guarantee in our fight against the FETO terrorist organization, as it was on July 15, 2016. The states and societies that support Türkiye in this fight will maintain their special place in the hearts of the Turkish nation." he said.
