Following the meeting between Kazakhstan President Kasım Cömert Tokayev and Chinese President Xi Jinping, the "Trade and Economic Cooperation Program and Road Map" covering the period 2027-2030 was signed between the governments of the two countries.

According to the statement made by the Presidency of Kazakhstan, Tokayev, who was in Shanghai to attend the World Artificial Intelligence Conference, met with Chinese President Xi there.

Tokayev thanked Xi for the invitation and congratulated the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

Stating that China has a great reputation in the international community and that its achievements are appreciated all over the world, Tokayev stated that the impressive transformation in the country is the result of Xi Jinping's farsighted leadership and determined activities.

Expressing that he sees Xi as "a strong leader who carries his people forward and a wise statesman on a global scale", Tokayev said that Kazakhstan attaches great importance to strengthening the "eternal and comprehensive strategic partnership" with China, and that the political dialogue between the two countries has developed significantly in recent years.

Tokayev pointed out that significant progress has been made in the field of trade and economy and emphasized that China is Kazakhstan's largest trade partner.

Stating that the two countries carry out major joint projects in many sectors, especially industry, energy, gas-chemistry, machinery production and agriculture, Tokayev underlined that cultural and human relations are strengthening with each passing year.

Stating that more than 1 million Chinese citizens visited Kazakhstan last year, Tokayev said that cultural centers were opened in the capitals of both countries and that Lu Ban Workshops were operating successfully in Kazakhstan.

Tokayev emphasized that the two countries are in close cooperation in the international arena, noting that they exhibit similar attitudes on global sustainable development and security issues, and that they carry out effective contacts with the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Conference on Cooperation and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in the "Central Asia-China" format.

Tokayev follows a friendly policy towards China

Chinese President Xi also welcomed Tokayev and stated that the meeting provided a suitable opportunity to discuss important issues on the bilateral agenda.

Xi said that the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Kazakhstan has reached a high level thanks to joint efforts, and that there is a significant potential for further development of relations.

Xi pointed out that Tokayev follows a friendly policy towards China and that this serves the interests of the people of both countries.

Emphasizing that he appreciated the comprehensive reforms carried out by Tokayev's initiative, Xi congratulated him on the adoption of the new constitution and wished him success in the upcoming Congress elections.

At the end of the meeting, the "Trade and Economic Cooperation Program and Road Map" covering the period 2027-2030 was signed between Kazakhstan and China.
