In Adana, a mother was injured and survived while her daughter lost her life after being hit by an intoxicated driver. Hülya Büyükyolaçan, 75, who lost her daughter in the accident, said, "He was drunk, he fled. I want justice for my daughter. My heart is broken, my soul is burning." The driver, who surrendered a day after the accident, was found to have approximately 2.40 per mille alcohol in his system at the time of the traffic incident, according to expert calculations, and was sent to prison.

The accident occurred on July 4th on the D-400 highway in İncirlik Mahallesi, Sarıçam district. According to allegations, Serhan Kayatürk (58) went to her daughter Yağmur Y.'s house for dinner with her mother Hülya Büyükyolaçan (75). After dinner, as Kayatürk was heading home on a moped with license plate 01 BFK 858, she was rear-ended by a car with license plate 01 BFK 819, driven by M.G. (27), which was traveling in the same direction.

Serhan Kayatürk and her mother Hülya Büyükyolaçan were thrown onto the road due to the impact, while car driver M.G. fled the scene. Upon notification from bystanders, health and police teams were dispatched to the area. The severely injured mother and daughter were taken to Adana City Training and Research Hospital after initial intervention by medical teams. Serhan Kayatürk, who was undergoing treatment, could not be saved despite all efforts by doctors. Kayatürk's funeral was held at Küçükoba Cemetery. Hülya Büyükyolaçan, who was injured, was discharged after her treatment.

Driver M.G., who fled after the accident, went to the police station and surrendered a day later. Although an alcohol test revealed 0.01 per mille alcohol in his system, a retrospective alcohol calculation was performed due to his surrender approximately 24 hours after the accident. As a result of the expert assessment, which added 0.15 per mille alcohol for each hour, it was determined that M.G. had approximately 2.40 per mille alcohol in his system at the time of the traffic incident. After his procedures at the police department, M.G. was referred to the courthouse and subsequently arrested by the court and sent to prison.

Describing the moment of the accident, mother Hülya Büyükyolaçan said, "My grandchild invited my daughter and me for dinner. After dinner in the evening, my daughter and I set off. I don't remember how far we went; he hit us so fast that I lost consciousness. When I woke up, I was doubled over. When I came to, I realized my leg was broken and my daughter wasn't there. I was screaming, and an ambulance came and took me to the hospital. They told me my daughter wasn't bad, that she was fine. But my daughter was actually very bad at that moment. I was dragged for 200 meters; if it weren't for the grass there, maybe I would have died too. The grass saved me."

Büyükyolaçan stated, "The driver was drunk; in his statement, he said there were 3 of us on the moped. He said two people were thrown from the back, which was a lie. My daughter was in front, and I was in the back. She was driving very slowly. I want justice for my daughter. My heart is broken. I want justice, nothing else. My heart is burning, my soul is burning."

Büyükyolaçan said she lost consciousness during the incident and was taken to the hospital, adding, "The driver went and surrendered a day later. There are eyewitnesses to the accident. His relatives came and took the child away in another car, fleeing the scene." - ADANA
