During the historical artifact smuggling operation organized in 4 provinces centered in Sivas, many historical coins and objects were seized and legal action was taken against 18 suspects.
It is considered that the Sivas Chief Public Prosecutor's Office was carrying out unauthorized excavation activities under the coordination of the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch Directorate; A simultaneous operation was carried out against a total of 18 people in Sivas Center, Ankara, Bursa and Düzce provinces. During searches of residences and vehicles of suspicious persons; 108 historical coins and objects, 8 field scanning machines, 2 field scanning rods were seized.
Within the scope of the investigation, legal action was taken against 18 suspects on the charge of violating the Law on the Protection of Cultural and Natural Assets No. 2863. - SİVAS
