The "Memory and Souvenir July 15" photography exhibition was opened at the Istanbul Airport International Departure Terminal.
The exhibition, organized in cooperation with the Presidential Directorate of Communications, Istanbul Airport operator İGA and the 15 July Association, included some photographs of the Anadolu Agency showing the will of the Turkish people against the treacherous coup attempt of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) on July 15, 2016.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Istanbul Airport Civil Administration Chief Governor İlker Haktankaçmaz emphasized that the coup attempt that threatened the future of the nation should not be forgotten.
Haktankaçmaz said, "We, as the children of this nation, know that when necessary, we will disregard our lives and take to the streets on the night of July 15, as all members of this nation did. We also know how Türkiye can build such works that are the favorite of the world, that will make the traitors who mean the future of this nation and the forces behind them jealous and almost drive them to madness." he said.
Directorate of Communications International Media Coordinator Gözde Kirişçioğlu said that the exhibition aims to remind the Turkish nation's commitment to democracy and independence on the night of July 15, to pass it on to future generations, and to introduce it to local and foreign guests.
Kirişçioğlu said, "As the Presidential Directorate of Communications, we will continue to resolutely continue the activities that strengthen the spirit and consciousness of national unity and solidarity that keep the common memory of our nation alive." he said.
İGA Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mehmet Büyükkaytan described July 15 as "the nation's glorious epic of resistance".
Büyükkaytan said, "As İGA, we see it as an important responsibility to keep the memory of this epic resistance alive and to pass on our national memory to future generations. Our exhibition, organized under the leadership of the Presidential Directorate of Communications and the 15 July Association, is a reflection of our will to keep this memory alive." he said.
President of the 15 July Association, İsmail Hakkı Turunç, said that he commemorates the martyrs with mercy and the veterans and said, "We promise them that we will not tear our country apart and take down our flag." he said.
Speaking at the ceremony, veteran Mehmet Emin Ertaş stated that FETO terrorists could not stand against the Turkish nation for more than 40 hours on the night of July 15.
The photography exhibition, which also has English and Arabic translations, will be open to passengers for a week.
