Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, in his message published on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, stated that July 15 was the day when the nation wrote one of the greatest heroic epics in history, defending the independence, democracy and national will.
In his message, Minister Ersoy stated that the history of Turkish democracy faced a treacherous and dark attack on the night of July 15, 2016, but thanks to the foresight of the nation, this dark night turned into a bright morning. Emphasizing that the nation protects its independence, democracy and national will, regardless of women, men, old and young, Ersoy said, "Our nation has written one of the greatest heroic epics of our history."
Stating that July 15 was not only the day when a coup attempt was prevented, Ersoy said, "July 15 is also a historical turning point in which our nation unshakably demonstrated its will to protect its independence and future."
Noting that the treacherous coup attempt will always retain its place in memories, Ersoy said, "Sovereignty in this paradise of homeland will always belong to the nation."
Minister Ersoy, who also commemorated martyrs and veterans in his message, said, "On July 15, Democracy and National Unity Day, I remember all our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for our country with mercy, gratitude and respect, and I express my gratitude to our heroic veterans.
