Minister of JUSTICE Akın Gürlek said, regarding the Friendship Association investigation, "MASAK reports are being examined. The investigation may expand."
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek answered journalists' questions after the Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Complex. Minister Gürlek stated that the investigation of the Friends Association continues to be confidential and said, "The investigation is currently continuing. Operations are being carried out under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. There were 22 detentions in the first stage. MASAK reports are being examined. The investigation may expand." Minister Gürlek stated that Haluk Levent, the President of the Friends Association, was taken into custody on Sunday after he attempted to escape, even though he had previously been banned from traveling abroad.
NEW DETENTIONS IN THE YAZICIOĞLU INVESTIGATION
Minister Gürlek, upon the question regarding the investigation into the death of Great Unity Party Founding Chairman Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu and his accompanying delegation in a helicopter crash, said, "Our Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office continues the investigation. There have been new detentions. Among those taken here are retired soldiers." Minister Gürlek: 'Are there people affiliated with FETO among those suspected in the investigation?' He answered the question "Yes, there is."
