"The Story of a Struggle" conference was held in Bartın.
At the conference held at the Kutlubeyyazıcılar Campus of the university within the scope of the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day events in cooperation with Bartın Governorship and Bartın University, Security Policy Expert Mete Yarar said that the July 15 coup attempt was designed not to put someone in charge of this country, but to completely disintegrate the country.
Noting that the nation that made sacrifices, took to the streets, and gave martyrs and veterans on July 15 actually gave the gift of democracy to 85 million people, Yarar said:
"We did not know any of the martyrs and veterans, and they did not know us either. When they went out to the streets, they went out to fight, not knowing what would happen in the morning. If you want to understand what this nation did that night, look at the examples in the world. There is no example like this in the world. There is no example in the world where the people unarmed prevented the coup while the internally supported elements of the Western-based coup were using weapons. And there is no example where they prevented the coup by inflicting this many losses."
Bartın Governor Nurtaç Arslan, Garrison Commander Marine Senior Colonel Serhat Sır, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Gendarmerie Colonel Mehmet Baykal, Provincial Police Chief Hüseyin Adatepe, representatives of non-governmental organizations and students attended the program.
