Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) once again brought to memory the historical epic in which the Turkish nation defended democracy, national will and independence, with the conference titled "15 July in its 10th Anniversary: National Unity and Democracy Victory" organized on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day.
The program was held at the Tahir Karauğuz Conference Hall, hosted by BEUN under the coordination of Zonguldak Governorship; Zonguldak Deputy Governor Halis Hacıismailoğlu, BEUN Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Şenol Hakan Kutoğlu and Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu, General Secretary Prof. Dr. Zehra Safi Öz, Zonguldak Provincial Director of National Education Uygar Keskin, Zonguldak Youth and Sports Provincial Director Halil Hacı, Labor Association President Veli Köktürk, Zonguldak Industry and Technology Provincial Director Metin Demir, provincial protocol, academic and administrative staff attended. The program, which started with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, continued with the recitation of the Holy Quran for the martyrs by Ahmet Can, a student of the Faculty of Theology.
Making the opening speech of the program, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu expressed the following statements:
"July 15 is not only a coup attempt against our democracy and our homeland. July 15 is a vile attempt at treason against the will of our nation, the survival of our state, our flag, our call to prayer and our independence. However, that night, the Turkish nation, with its men and women, young and old, from seven to seventy, stood together as one, filling the squares and protecting their homeland and state.'

In his speech, Dr. discussed the military interventions in Türkiye's democratic history from a historical perspective. Lecturer Member Toparlak Şahin comprehensively evaluated the development process of the treacherous coup attempt carried out by FETO on the night of July 15, 2016, the epic resistance put forward by the nation and the effects of this uprising in Türkiye's recent political history.
After the conference, Zonguldak Deputy Governor Halis Hacıismailoğlu, Dr. Lecturer He presented a certificate of appreciation to member Melek Toparlak Şahin for her contributions. The program ended after a souvenir photo was taken to commemorate the day. - ZONGULDAK
