Düzce Governor Mehmet Makas, AK Party Düzce Deputy Ayşe Keşir and Düzce Mayor Faruk Özlü published a message on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
In his message, Governor Makas reminded that they are on the 10th anniversary of the treacherous coup attempt carried out by members of the terrorist organization FETO on July 15.
Stating that July 15 is the day of those who loudly say "Our Will, Our Victory" against FETO with a sense of unity and solidarity and in the name of defending the national will, Makas said, "July 15 is the day of the heroes who brought the dark night to the bright morning with their sacrifices. July 15 is the night when the nation's weapons were turned against the nation again, the day when we said 'stop' to treason with bare hands. That night, the honorable stance of our beloved nation and our heroic security forces and the unprecedented in the world "With his courage, the treacherous coup attempt was foiled." he said.
Makas pointed out that there was not only a coup attempt on July 15 and said:
"It was also an attempt to betray the will of the nation, democracy and the Republic. Against this treacherous FETO attempt, our entire nation from 7 to 70 took to the streets as one, defending their homeland and future at the cost of their lives. That night, the Turkish nation showed the whole world its commitment to democracy at the expense of its life. Our nation, which showed the value of independence and national unity with a heroic attitude, used this spirit against all kinds of terrorist organizations, especially FETO and similar terrorist organizations." "The beloved Turkish nation will never forget Ömer Halisdemir, Cennet Yiğit, Kübra Doğanay and our 251 dear martyrs who drank the sherbet of martyrdom for the sake of their homeland, flag and nation on that treacherous night."
"Our nation did not give way to traitors"
Keşir also noted that July 15 is the anniversary of the national unity and determination in which the nation signed the epic that is exemplary all over the world.
Stating that he commemorates the honorable stance and struggle for democracy shown by the nation and the heroic security forces with respect and pride, Keşir said:
"That night, our nation wrote the epic of democracy with the determination shown by our President and Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He shielded himself from guns, tanks and planes. 'If the subject is the homeland, the rest are details.' Our nation, which defended the homeland at the expense of its lives, did not give way to traitors. That night, when our Gazi Parliament was bombed and many of our public institutions were gunned down, we once again showed the whole world that our national unity and solidarity could never be broken, just like in Çanakkale, during the War of Independence. "Our esteemed president, standing tall with faith in democracy, we, protecting the trust of our nation, became one body against traitors in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, millions in the streets and squares."
Özlü stated that Türkiye faced one of the darkest betrayals in its history on the night of July 15, 2016, and explained that the dark night was also the turning point of a glorious resistance in which the Turkish nation wrote an epic and defended its will and democracy.
Reminding that the treacherous coup attempt under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan ended in great defeat, Özlü said, "I commemorate with mercy and gratitude the 251 martyrs who lost their lives during this coup attempt, especially the martyr Ufuk Baysan, the son of Düzce, and I express my gratitude to our veterans. Thanks to their sacrifices, we live in peace and stability today and can look to our future stronger." he said.
