Prof. participated from Türkiye in the Libya Culture Days events organized every year by the Libyan Ministry of Culture. Dr. Fazıl Bayat's conference themed "The Importance of Ottoman Archives in Libyan History Studies" attracted great attention.
The conference held in the capital Tripoli was followed by Yunus Emre Institute (YEE) Tripoli Coordinator Ahmet Yusuf Özdemir, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) Tripoli Coordinator Yunus Türkyılmaz, and more than a hundred academicians, researchers and participants from various universities in Libya.
In his presentation, Bayat first mentioned the language of the Ottoman archives; Explaining some differences between Ottoman Turkish and today's Turkish, he said that the first requirement to do research on archive documents is to learn Turkish.
Noting that there are tens of thousands of documents related to Libya in the Ottoman archives, Bayat showed images of various types of archive documents related to Libya and gave information about their contents.
Bayat also introduced the book "Libya in Ottoman Archive Documents" published by IRCICA publications of which he is the author, and stated that the book was translated into Arabic and explained the various documents he discussed in the book.
The conference ended after the question-answer session with the participation of the participants in the hall.
