Glass, PET and aluminum beverage packaging are recycled with 30 Deposit Return Machines serving within the scope of the Deposit Management System in Manisa. For returns made via the DOA mobile application, 1 lira is paid for each package, while the daily payment limit is 200 lira.
Within the scope of the Deposit Management System (DYS) implemented by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, environmentally friendly recycling practice is becoming widespread in Manisa. Thanks to the system, glass, PET and aluminum beverage packages are collected back in a controlled manner, and citizens can receive payment for each package they return.
While the Deposit Management System aims to prevent packaging that has the potential to pollute the environment from being released into nature, beverage packaging with the DYS logo and special barcode is recycled through Deposit Return Machines. Within the scope of the system, manufacturers are also obliged to produce returnable packaging.
Manisa Provincial Director of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Faik Gürocak, stated that there are currently 30 Deposit Return Machines throughout the city, and that activities are continuing to provide a total of three new devices to Celal Bayar University Muradiye, Uncubozköy and Şehzadeler campuses, in line with the demands from university students.
Gürocak stated that the number of machines will be increased throughout Türkiye depending on the production capacity, and that the devices are placed at points where citizens can easily reach them.
Providing information about the system that works through the DOA mobile application, Gürocak said that citizens can download the application to their phones, scan the QR code on the machine and then deliver their returnable packages. Stating that 1 lira is loaded into the DOA digital wallet for each returned packaging, Gürocak noted that this balance can be used for purchases such as debit cards.
Reminding that the daily payment limit is 200 lira, Gürocak stated that citizens can see the Deposit Refund Machine closest to them on the map in the application and that thanks to this system, they can both gain economic profit and contribute to recycling. - MANISA
