In his message published on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, Memur-Sen Manisa Provincial Representative and Eğitim-Bir-Sen Manisa No. 1 Branch President Ahmet Yasav stated that FETO's coup attempt was eliminated by the epic resistance of the nation and said, "We did not allow the enemies of the homeland and nation on July 15, and we will not do so from now on."
Memur-Sen Manisa Provincial Representative and Eğitim-Bir-Sen Manisa No. 1 Branch President Ahmet Yasav, in his message published on the 10th anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, stated that the coup attempt of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) on July 15, 2016 targeted not only the elected government, but also the will of the nation and the existence of the state.
Stating that July 15 was an open invasion attempt against Türkiye's independence, Yasav said that the Turkish nation wrote an epic that went down in history with the struggle they fought at the expense of their lives that night. Stating that Türkiye has been facing various attacks for many years due to the steps of global powers that disrupt the regional plans, Yasav stated that after the Gezi events, the 17-25 December period and the MİT trucks operations, a bloody coup attempt was staged on July 15th.
Reminding that critical institutions of the state were targeted with warplanes, helicopters, tanks and heavy weapons during the coup attempt, Yasav stated that the Turkish Grand National Assembly was bombed and strategic points such as the Presidential Complex, General Staff, MİT, Police Special Operations Directorate, Türksat and the Bosphorus Bridge were attacked. Yasav stated that the coup plotters opened fire on the people, causing hundreds of citizens to be martyred and injured.
Emphasizing that Eğitim-Bir-Sen and Memur-Sen organizations took part in the squares to protect democracy from the first moments of the coup attempt, Yasav said that the union members stood against the coup plotters not only on social media but actually in the streets. Reminding that four members of Memur-Sen were martyred and approximately 100 members were injured, Yasav wished God's mercy to the martyrs.
Stating that FETO has infiltrated state institutions for years by exploiting the nation's religious feelings, goodwill and love of education, Yasav stated that the organization used the nation's resources to point its guns at the nation. Noting that it is impossible to forgive the betrayal of this structure in any way, Yasav said that one should always be vigilant against similar threats.
Pointing out that the unity of the state and the nation on the night of July 15 was the most important factor in the failure of the coup attempt, Yasav said, "The nation did not leave its leader alone, and the leader did not leave his nation alone. This unity foiled the treacherous plans and Türkiye began to walk with stronger steps into a new century." he said.
Yasav completed his message with the following words: "We did not allow the enemies of the country and the nation on July 15, and we will not do so from now on. Curse the coups, the coup plotters and all structures that attack the will of the nation. We commemorate our martyrs with mercy and our veterans with gratitude; we respectfully salute the epic resistance of our nation for the sake of democracy and independence." - MANISA
