In the written statement made by the Sudanese army, it was stated that control was achieved in the Fashfoun region during the operation and HDK and SPLM-N troops suffered heavy losses.
In the statement, it was shared that the army units continue their search and security operations in order to follow the remaining HDK elements in the region and to ensure security and stability.
The Sudanese army's statement came just days after it announced that troops had regained control of the strategically important city of Kurmuk on July 8.
While the Sudanese army maintains control over large parts of Blue Nile state, the SPLM-N has been clashing with government forces since 2011, demanding autonomy for the South Kordofan and Blue Nile regions.
The conflicts between the army and HDK in Sudan, which started in April 2023 after disagreements over the integration of the paramilitary force into the army, continue.
The conflict has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced millions, causing one of the world's worst humanitarian crises.
