Erzurum Governor Aydın Baruş attended the opening ceremony of the Martyrs' Monument and Hacı Ahmet Sekmen Masjid, built by the Eastern Anatolia and Black Sea Region Security Guards Martyrs' Families Federation.

Addressing the citizens and protocol members from the podium set up in the ceremony area before the opening, Governor Aydın Baruş emphasized that the status of martyrdom is one of the highest levels that can be achieved in the hearts of the Turkish nation.

Stating that the sacrifices of the martyrs and the heroism of the veterans are the basis of the atmosphere of peace and security we enjoy today, Baruş stated that gratitude is owed to all heroes.

Our security guards fight shoulder to shoulder in the fight against terrorism

Drawing attention to the strategic role of security guards in the fight against terrorism, Governor Baruş reminded that the guards undertake important duties under the command of the state and shoulder to shoulder with the police forces. Baruş said, "The courage, sacrifice and determination demonstrated by our security guards will always live in the memory of our nation."

Stating that the Martyrs' Monument and Hacı Ahmet Sekmen Masjid, which were opened, are more than an architectural work, Baruş noted that this structure is a historical symbol and token of loyalty that will convey the love of the homeland and the spirit of unity and solidarity to future generations.

At the end of the program, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Yunus Özkan, President of the Eastern Anatolia and Black Sea Region Security Guards Martyrs' Families Federation, who had a major share in the realization of the work, the federation management and the philanthropists who contributed.

Governor Baruş completed his speech by commemorating all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades in arms, and expressing his gratitude to the heroic veterans.

The ceremony ended after the opening ribbon was cut and prayers were made in the mosque. - ERZURUM
