The Culture Road Festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Van, continued on its third day with traditional art workshops, interviews and exhibitions.
The exhibition, held at the Van Maturation Institute, brought together many works ranging from niello Van silver to fabrics woven from Norduz wool, from clothing and embroidery products to leather works and carpet-rug types. The exhibition offered visitors the opportunity to get to know the traditional handicrafts of the city closely.
At the Tile Painting Workshop, participants had the opportunity to practically prepare their own designs under the supervision of expert instructors, after receiving information about the history and traditional motifs of tile art.
At the Needle Lace Workshop held at the Van Museum, the rich motif world and fine workmanship of needle lace, one of the deep-rooted handicrafts of Anatolia, was introduced to the participants.
During the workshop, information was given about the adventure of needle lace from past to present, patterns specific to different regions and the cultural meanings it carries.
Participants who practiced basic production techniques became a part of the event that contributed to the preservation of cultural heritage, while getting to know the intricacies of this traditional handicraft that require patience and mastery.
In the talk "Zeve, History and Collective Memory, at the Intersection of Forgetting and Reminding" held at the Provincial Public Library, Dr. Lecturer Member Mehmet Karasu met with his readers.
In the interview, Van's historical memory, Zeve Martyrdom and the history of the region were discussed from an academic perspective, while their importance in preserving collective memory and cultural identity was evaluated.
