The General Directorate of Meteorology published its Temperature Analysis Report for June 2026. According to the general assessment in the report, June temperatures were below seasonal norms around Antakya, while they were above seasonal norms in the vicinities of Edirne, Çorlu, Tekirdağ, Sarıyer, Kumköy, Kadıköy, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Gökçeada, Çanakkale, Bursa, Yalova, Balıkesir, Uzunköprü, İpsala, Florya, Geyve, Gönen, the coastal areas of the Aegean Region, Dursunbey, Tavşanlı, Burhaniye, Bergama, Nazilli, Isparta, Fethiye, Alanya, Anamur, Mersin, Kaş, Eğirdir, Manavgat, Kale-Demre, Samandağ, Eskişehir Akçakoca, Bartın, Zonguldak, Sinop, Samsun, Bolu, Düzce, Boyabat, Nallıhan, Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Mardin, Şırnak, and Kahta. In other parts of the country, temperatures were around seasonal norms.

While the 1991-2020 June average temperature was 21.8 degrees Celsius, the June 2026 temperature was recorded as 22.3 degrees Celsius. It was stated that June 2026 was 0.5 degrees Celsius above the 1991-2020 June average. According to the report, which includes data from the last 56 years, including 1971 when data reporting began; June 2026 was recorded as the 11th hottest June in the last 56 years.

EXTREME TEMPERATURES IN JUNE 2026

In June, the lowest temperature was recorded at minus 1.4 degrees Celsius in Ardahan, while the highest temperature was detected at 43.5 degrees Celsius in Cizre. Additionally, 1 new extreme minimum temperature value was reported throughout the month.

In the Marmara Region, the average June temperature was measured at 23.2 degrees Celsius. While the region's long-term June average is 22 degrees Celsius, temperatures in Edirne, Tekirdağ, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Bursa, Çanakkale, and their vicinities were above seasonal norms. The lowest temperature in the region was reported at 9.3 degrees Celsius in Balıkesir, and the highest at 38 degrees Celsius in Lüleburgaz.

In the Aegean Region, the average June temperature was 24.5 degrees Celsius, with temperatures measured above seasonal norms in many centers, especially in the coastal areas. The highest temperature in the region was observed at 41.1 degrees Celsius in Nazilli, and the lowest at 7.7 degrees Celsius in Gediz.

In the Mediterranean Region, the average temperature was 24.4 degrees Celsius. While temperatures around Antakya remained below seasonal norms, they rose above norms in the vicinities of Isparta, Fethiye, Alanya, Mersin, and Manavgat. The highest temperature in the region was measured at 39.4 degrees Celsius in Manavgat.
