As air temperatures rise in the summer months, ice cream consumption also increases. Experts have stated that ice cream can be a beneficial food for health when consumed correctly, but incorrect consumption can particularly increase the risk of throat infections.
Experts noted that ice cream, which is rich in milk, protein, calcium, and vitamins, is among the preferred foods for children and those who enjoy sweets, especially during the summer months.
Stating that consuming ice cream with water can reduce the risk of throat infections, experts recommended that the product be consumed slowly and in small bites after being allowed to sit for a short period, rather than immediately after being removed from its packaging.
Experts also pointed out that individuals with cow's milk allergies can opt for ice creams made from goat's milk, and varieties prepared with natural fruits are rich in antioxidants.
Experts warned that excessive ice cream consumption can be detrimental, especially for individuals with weight problems, and advised consuming ice cream on a full stomach, paying attention to oral hygiene after consumption, and ensuring the product has been stored without breaking the cold chain.
Experts stated that factors contributing to throat infections include mouth breathing due to nasal congestion, a weakened immune system, smoking, excessive fatigue, insomnia, stress, post-nasal drip, and allergic conditions, emphasizing that frequently recurring throat infections should not be neglected.
Experts noted that improperly treated throat infections can lead to serious health problems in the heart, kidneys, and joints, and stressed the importance of children and adults experiencing more than 4-5 throat infections per year consulting an ear, nose, and throat specialist. - ERZİNCAN
