Democratic Party (DP) Izmir Deputy Haydar Altıntaş argued that NATO has turned into a complex structure, not a homogeneous one.
At the press conference he held in the Parliament, Altıntaş stated that the NATO Leaders Summit held in Ankara was recorded as a successful organization.
Stating that Türkiye's greatest strategic power in NATO is its "veto right" in the decision-making mechanism, Altıntaş said that when "NATO" is mentioned, the USA is largely mentioned.
"If the US's view of NATO changes, how will NATO be shaped?" Asking the question, Altıntaş argued that NATO has turned into a complex structure, not a homogeneous one.
Emphasizing that Türkiye should maintain its independent security perspective centered on its national interests, Altıntaş said that what happened in the F-35 aircraft project damaged Türkiye's reputation.
Stating that strong institutions are needed, not slogans, Altıntaş said, "A strong state survives not only with a strong army, but also with a strong economy and a trustworthy legal order. It is our common responsibility to build a foreign policy that strengthens prestige in the international system." made his assessment.
