According to the statement made by the Fontainebleau Prosecutor's Office, 6 people suspected of starting flames at different points in the forest in question were detained.
Two 18-year-old people, one of whom was a volunteer firefighter, confessed that they started flames at two different points.
One of those who testified claimed that he set the flames deliberately, while the other claimed that he set the flames by accident.
A volunteer firefighter said he set fire to brushwood using a lighter and gasoline in Arbonne-la-Foret, one of the cities covered by the forest.
The other person stated that he accidentally started the flames by throwing a cigarette butt into the area where an equestrian stadium is located in the city of Fontainebleau.
The prosecutor's office is investigating the possibility that one of the first fires on the side of the A6 motorway passing through the Fontainebleau Forest may have started due to activities carried out close to the road.
The flames in the Fontainebleau Forest, 60 kilometers away from Paris, started on July 12.
