French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez stated that 188 people were detained within the scope of the July 14 National Day celebrations.
In his statement to BFMTV channel, Nunez gave information about the national holiday celebrations that started at night.
Nunez noted that 188 people were detained in the country during the celebrations held in France on the occasion of the July 14 National Day, and stated that this number was 389 last year.
Nunez reported that there were violent incidents in 140 cities at night, and that the number of fireworks used against security forces decreased compared to the same period last year.
Stating that the second part of the national holiday celebrations will be held this evening, Nunez reminded that the semi-final match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where France and Spain will face each other, will also be played this evening.
Within the scope of these celebrations, 70 thousand security forces were assigned to France.
