In the match-fixing investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, past betting data of some club executives serving in professional leagues affiliated with the Turkish Football Federation were examined.
According to the data obtained within the scope of the investigation, Kemal Aydın's betting activities during his tenure as an executive at Balıkesirspor Club were put under scrutiny. In the statement by officials, it was noted that data from legal betting platforms between 2020 and 2026 were evaluated together with MASAK analyses.
Kemal Aydın was among the 19 suspects against whom proceedings were initiated within the scope of the match-fixing investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
In the prosecutor's statement, it was indicated that findings were made regarding some executives serving in professional football clubs placing bets during their tenure on their own clubs' matches, favoring the opposing team, on goal bets (such as over/under), and on player-based betting options.
According to information in the investigation file, it was assessed that Kemal Aydın placed 12 betting slips during his time as a Balıkesirspor Club executive, either favoring the opposing team in his own club's matches or within the scope of goal bets.
In this context, 17 suspects were apprehended in simultaneous operations carried out across 10 provinces centered in Istanbul, while proceedings were also initiated against Kemal Aydın within the scope of the investigation.
In the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Bureau for Illegal Betting and Sports Crimes Investigations, data belonging to legally operating betting platforms were examined.
According to the prosecutor's statement, during the examinations;
betting records from 2020-2026 obtained from the platforms were evaluated.
Furthermore, financial data provided by the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) were also analyzed within the scope of the investigation.
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that significant findings regarding the betting activities of some club executives serving in professional leagues affiliated with the Turkish Football Federation were reached within the scope of the investigation.
Gürlek stated that the fight against illegal betting, violence in sports, match-fixing, and proceeds from crime is being resolutely continued.
While proceedings were initiated against a total of 19 suspects within the scope of the investigation, it was reported that operations were carried out simultaneously in various provinces, centered in Istanbul.
In a statement made by the Financial Crimes Branch Directorate, it was stated that 17 individuals were apprehended during the operation, while 2 suspects were located abroad.
The statement indicated that the betting activities of individuals serving as football club executives during their tenure were examined, and as a result of the analyses conducted, the investigation was expanded.
The investigation process continues under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
