Tahsin Şengezer (76), who has been making toast with the same iron for 50 years in his 15 square meter shop in ADANA, welcomes local and foreign tourists to his shop. Stating that it has maintained the same taste for years, Şengezer said, "Thanks to the stainless feature of chrome, I have continued to use the iron as it was the first day for years. This iron has been my friend for half a century."

While the city is known for its kebab, turnip and şırdan, ironed toast is also among the traditional delicacies. Tahsin Şengezer, one of the city's first toast makers, has been preparing toast with the same method for 50 years. Şengezer's 15 square meter shop, which has maintained the same taste for years, is a frequent destination for both the people of Adana and local and foreign tourists coming to the city. Tahsin Şengezer, who does not give up the traditional method with his iron made of chrome sheet, continues to keep Adana's deep-rooted taste culture alive.

'IRON HAS BEEN A FRIEND TO ME SINCE THE DAY I OPENED MY STORE'

Telling the production story of ironed toast, Şengezer said, "We used to work as a kiosk, but when we opened this shop later, we had problems with the first machine we used, so we thought of chrome sheet metal. We chose this material because it does not rust and is durable, and we started making toast in the ironing machine. I have continued in the same way since then. I have been using the same iron for about 50 years in my 15 square meter shop. This iron has been my friend since the first day I opened it."

'I HAVE BEEN PREPARING THE SAME TYPE OF TASTE FOR 50 YEARS'

Stating that they never compromise the standards of their products, Tahsin Şengezer said, "There are both good and negative comments about our products. It all depends on the taste. I am retired, but I am busy with my work instead of sitting at home and spending time. We have toasts that we produce using sausage, egg, kashar and tomatoes. This iron has been with me for 50 years. I maintain it regularly. Thanks to the stainless feature of chrome, I continue to use it like the first day for years."
