The photography exhibition titled "July 15 Night", prepared from the archives of Anadolu Agency, was opened to visitors within the scope of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day by the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education.

Speaking at the exhibition opened in the directorate's building in Fatih, Istanbul Deputy Governor Mustafa Kaya said that July 15 is one of the most important dates showing that the nation protects the national will.

Stating that the coup attempt was carried out by people who surrendered their will to other places, Kaya said, "The nation protected its will, its country, its leader and its democracy. It showed great heroism and fought a great fight by giving 253 martyrs. This nation showed again that you cannot achieve anything with the guidance of others and that this nation cannot be defeated. We will commemorate the 10th anniversary of this with this exhibition and we must not forget it. It is necessary to constantly transfer this national memory to the younger generations." he said.

Istanbul Provincial Deputy Director of National Education Medet Ekşi stated that July 15 was one of the most important turning points in the history of the Turkish nation and that those who disregarded the will of the nation on the night of the coup attempt lost.

Noting that July 15 is the turning point of the resurrection, Ekşi said, "We educators have a great responsibility in keeping the spirit of the resurrection alive. We will continue to convey and introduce the honorable lives and exemplary memories of our martyrs and veterans to new generations. We have a duty not to forget and not to let others forget the heroes who resisted the occupation in order to keep the consciousness of being a nation alive." he said.

The exhibition, which documents what happened during the coup attempt on July 15, 2016, and was prepared to keep the social memory alive and transfer the awareness of democracy to future generations, can be visited until July 20.

The exhibition includes 40 photographs selected from the Anadolu Agency archive.
