Turgut Aslan, Chief Advisor to the President and July 15 veteran, said, "We did not save the country through all the troubles, we did not shed blood, we did not lose lives. Now we live on it as a homeland, but no one should think that this is easy. We have to be very careful. Especially our young people need to be careful." he said.
Aslan, who was taken hostage at the Gendarmerie General Command on the night of July 15 and was seriously injured by being shot in the head while he was the head of the Anti-Terrorism Department (TEM) of the General Directorate of Security, told the AA correspondent about his experiences on the night of the coup attempt and afterwards.
Recalling that he prepared a report about the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) before the coup attempt and was therefore sent to custody, Aslan said, "At that time, everyone was afraid. I signed, and when the arrest started the next day, Fetullah Gülen put me at the top of the execution list." he said.
"They made him wait in front of the window to be hit by a blind bullet."
On the night of the coup attempt, at the door of the Gendarmerie General Command, the coup plotter soldiers told him: "The Peace at Home Council has taken over the administration." Stating that he was told and his hands and eyes were tied by former colonel Erkan Öktem, Aslan said, "They held me in front of the window that night. So that a blind bullet would come and hit me. This is God, the God who does not kill, does not kill." he said.
Aslan described the moments when he was arrested by the coup plotters as follows:
"I asked for water, but they did not give me water. I wanted to go to the sink, Erkan Öktem said, 'I will send you to such a place that you will not need the sink.' he said. I understood that his intentions were bad. First they martyred my guard, then they shot me in the head. They left me aside as dead. When they found me, I was giving testimony."
"I breathed a deep sigh of relief when I heard that Fetullah Gülen had failed."
Stating that he regained consciousness after having 4 brain surgeries and being in a coma for 5 months after the incident, Aslan said, "I woke up and asked 'Was Fetullah Gülen successful?' I asked. And they told me, 'Fetullah Gülen was not successful.' "When I said that, I took a deep breath." he said.
Stating that young people should be careful about traitors, Aslan said, "It was not easy to take over this country. Young people do not know this. We did not save the country through all the troubles, shed blood, and sacrificed lives. Now we are sitting on it as a country, but no one should think that this is easy. We have to be very careful. Especially our young people need to be careful." he said.
