Ahmet Yaşar, father of July 15 martyr Oğuzhan Yaşar, touched everyone with the poem titled "Son", which he wrote for his son who was martyred in the treacherous coup attempt.

Describing his son's experiences on the night of July 15, Yaşar said, "My son struggled to survive as a veteran for 19 days. A piece of shrapnel hit his head. Unfortunately, he drank the sherbet of martyrdom on the 19th day."

Oğuzhan Yaşar, who was born in Erzurum in 1993, was working as a worker in a store in Ankara. Yaşar, who left home on the night of July 15, 2016, saying "I am going to a friend's house," went to the front of the Presidential Complex to defend the national will. Yaşar, who was seriously injured when shrapnel from the bombs thrown in front of the Social Complex by the coup plotters hit his head, fought for his life for 19 days in GATA Hospital, where he was taken. Yaşar, who was martyred on his birthday, August 3, 2016, was buried in his hometown, Yaymeşe District of Şenkaya district of Erzurum.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also commemorated Oğuzhan Yaşar with the words: "A 23-year-old, 1.95 tall sapling. A martyr who cannot fit into a coffin."

"July 15 was a breaking point for Türkiye"

Ahmet Yaşar, father of July 15 martyr Oğuzhan Yaşar, talked about what he experienced that night and his son's struggle for life: "July 15 was a breaking point for Turkey. In fact, it was a night when our country came to the point of extinction. May God not let this nation experience that dark night again. I hope we will never see such pain again. I learned that my son was shot when I learned that he was at GATA Hospital around 11:00 on July 16. My son was 19 days old. "He fought for his life as a veteran. A piece of shrapnel hit his head. Unfortunately, he drank the syrup of martyrdom on the 19th day. I always say, 'Thank you to our homeland, long live my flag.' I have a poem called 'Son' that I wrote after my son. Every time I read it, I remember both my son and all our martyrs who died for this country on the night of July 15th."
