A specially designed 5 lira commemorative coin was issued to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the honorable resistance of the Turkish nation against the coup attempt of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) on July 15, 2016.
The commemorative coin was designed by the Mint as a sign of the unity, solidarity and democracy struggle of the Turkish nation against the treacherous coup attempt of FETO members.
It was also aimed to contribute to the spirit of national unity and solidarity with the commemorative coin printed in order to keep the determined stance of the Turkish nation on the night of July 15 and the will to protect democracy alive in the memories and to transfer it to future generations.
While the money was printed on the two-metal (bimetal) 5 lira coin that is still in circulation, the "15 July 10th Anniversary" logo and the text "Democracy and National Unity Day" appeared on the head side, while the current design of the 5 lira coin in circulation was preserved on the other side.
