Under the auspices of Eyüpsultan Social Service Center of the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, "Our Will is Our Victory, Our 15 July Open Air Exhibition" was organized within the scope of the 10th anniversary events of the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day.
In the exhibition held in Eyüpsultan Square, the vehicle, which became one of the symbols of the events that took place in the district on the night of July 15 and was heavily damaged by being run over by a tank during the coup attempt, as well as photographs of that night, pictures prepared by the children of the martyrs, and artistic activities were presented to the visitors.
Speaking here, Istanbul Family and Social Services Provincial Director Ömer Turan stated that the vehicle on display is one of the most important symbols left from the night of July 15 that should not be forgotten.
Stating that they have always tried to be with the families of martyrs and veterans in the past 10 years, Turan said, "Under the leadership of our President and our esteemed Minister, we are trying our best to always be with them in Istanbul." he said.
Turan stated that they are carrying out activities to transfer the spirit of July 15 to future generations and said, "With the slogan 'We have not forgotten, we will not let us forget', we are carrying out many different events and activities to ensure that this feeling is not forgotten by our youth, all different environments and stakeholders." he said.
Pointing out the importance of remembering the veterans and not leaving the families of the martyrs alone, Turan wished mercy to all the martyrs and a healthy and long life to the veterans.
July 15 Veteran Ergin Yapıcı also said that he thanked the employees of Eyüpsultan Social Service Center who contributed to the organization of the exhibition.
Yapıcı said, "We say that the flags should not come down and the call to prayer should not stop. Thank God, we can come together again. May our unity and solidarity be eternal." he said.
Eyüpsultan District Governor Arslan Yurt, relatives of martyrs, veterans and citizens also attended the program, where primary school student Miray Ela Koçak read the poem she wrote for the July 15 martyrs.
The aim of the exhibition is to keep alive the memory of the nation's struggle to defend its independence, democracy and national will, to commemorate the martyrs of July 15 with mercy and gratitude, to strengthen the sense of loyalty to veterans and to transfer the spirit of July 15 to future generations.
