'The Will is Ours, the Victory is Ours' magazine, prepared by the Press and Public Relations Consultancy of the Ministry of National Education, discusses July 15 from the perspective of education, democracy and national unity on the 10th anniversary of the '15 July Democracy and National Unity Day'.

According to the statement made by the Ministry; The magazine, which deals with different aspects of the nation's claim to democracy, independence and national will, begins with the foreword of the Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin. In his foreword, titled 'The Responsibility of July 15 on Our Education', Minister Tekin said, "On the night of July 15, 2016, our beloved nation declared to the whole world that it would not allow tutelage to be established over its own destiny, that its will could not be shackled, and that no tutelage center could exist as a power above the nation in these lands. It showed the whole world that the will of the state cannot be considered separately from the will of the nation. Tens of thousands who took to the streets that night, realized that the real owner of the state is the nation." "He shouted that he was himself, with the faith in his hearts, at the cost of his life. That power that manifested itself in the squares under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was engraved in the pages of history as the clearest manifestation of our nation's character that does not consent to slavery, state-nation integrity and understanding of democracy."

'EDUCATION IS THE CENTRAL ISSUE OF UNDERSTANDING JULY 15'

Pointing out that the coup attempt cannot be read as an isolated incident that occurred overnight, Minister Tekin said, "FETO's sinister coup attempt cannot be read as an isolated incident that occurred overnight. Behind this betrayal, there was an organized treasonous mind that used religious values as a curtain, education as a basis, bureaucracy as a position, and youth as a human resource. It disconnected speech from the truth, turned education into a recruiting ground, made the media a tool for reputation assassinations, and bureaucracy." This structure, which surrounds us from the inside, ultimately turned its weapon against the nation and the legitimate government. The survival of the state depends on how much we can protect the mind, will and personality of the human being, and the faith and love of the country in our hearts. This is one of the most critical lessons that July 15 taught us. For this reason, the most permanent basis of the fight against FETO is to strengthen the minds and hearts of our children with a deep-rooted educational climate. Therefore, education is the central issue of understanding July 15. Any order that replaces the school with an uncontrolled network, replaces the teacher with mechanical exam success, and blind loyalty instead of personality produces a covert intervention area aimed at the future of the nation. On the other hand, the school-centered, strong teacher, nurturing the student's judgment, combining knowledge with morality, focuses on good people and virtuous society. "An educational ecosystem that is sustainable is the strongest guarantee of our national security, democracy and social stability," he said.

"For this very reason, the Turkish Century Education Model does not see knowledge as an unfettered power, success as an unconscionable competition, and freedom as an area of irresponsible choice; it considers humans together with their mind, heart, will and world of values. Establishing an educational system that does not leave the perception, will and personality of our children under the tutelage of any structure, and strengthens them with a sense of truth, critical thinking, morality, compassion and love of the country is one of the most fundamental lessons we learned from July 15. That historical night showed us that the strength that protects the independence of a nation is hidden in the courage that confronts the tanks and in the educational climate that fosters that courage. It is our common responsibility to protect and strengthen this climate and to carry it to future generations. On this occasion, we remember our martyrs of July 15 with gratitude and every citizen who ran to the streets at the expense of their lives that day. We cannot pay their dues or forget the trust they left to us. It is our duty to keep it alive in the classroom, in the efforts of teachers and in the personalities of our children."
