Bülent Girgin, Director of Edirne Uzunköprü Teacher's Center and Evening Art School, visited the village in Hakkari's Yüksekova district, which was his first place of duty 42 years ago, and commemorated his longing with his students.

After graduating from university, Girgin was appointed to the village of Dedeler, which had 40 households and a population of 800 at that time, in 1984, and taught 72 students in a single-room school. Girgin came to the village, his first place of duty, after 42 years, met with his students and reminisced about the past years.

Girgin visited the homes of his students, toured the location of the school where he worked years ago, and met with citizens in the village square.

Bülent Girgin told the AA correspondent that he was happy to visit the village where he worked for the first time after many years and meet his students.

Girgin said, "There is a huge difference between the previous state of the village and its current state. The village has changed, my students and their lifestyles have changed. Today, I saw my students, their fathers and children here. Most of my students' children have graduated from university. When I see them, my days and memories come to mind." he said.

Stating that the school building where he worked and the lodging he used are still standing, Girgin said, "I was touched when I saw the school and the lodging. A new school was built next to my school and a wall was built around it. There were no walls when I was working. The houses were spread over a wide area, new constructions occurred. There is no trace of the old houses." he said.

Mehmet Ali Değirmenci, one of Girgin's students, stated that he was happy to meet again after many years with his teacher who taught him how to read and write.

Expressing that he got emotional when he saw his teacher, Değirmenci said, "I am very happy to see our teacher. I showed him around our school and village. We reminisced about old memories. It is a very nice feeling." he said.

Mehmet Yalçın, one of the students, said, "We had good memories with him while he was on duty. We had been talking to our teacher on the phone for about 6 years. Now he has come to visit us. Our teacher is very loyal. We are very happy to meet him again after 42 years." he said.
