ABDULLAH SARICA - Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek said, "We will continue our fight with an uncompromising will against all structures that target the unity of our nation, the survival of our state, our democracy and our legal order, especially FETO." he said.
Gürlek made evaluations to the AA correspondent about the struggle carried out on the 10th anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO).
Emphasizing that the fight against FETO continues without compromise, Gürlek underlined that the Turkish judiciary does not compromise on the rule of law in the processes carried out with the awareness of constitutional duty and responsibility.
Gürlek stated that the judiciary acts with great care and sensitivity, that judicial authorities pass one of the most difficult tests by maintaining the sensitivity of the scales of justice, and that this approach, which distinguishes the innocent from the guilty, is the strongest guarantee of trust in the state of law.
Stating that the Turkish judiciary has meticulously put forward a comprehensive struggle for the manifestation of justice, Gürlek noted that the effective fight against FETO is not a revenge, but a "great purification process" carried out by the rule of law with justice.
Emphasizing that no illegal structure, including FETO, will be allowed, Gürlek continued as follows:
"Under the strong leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we will never allow any illegal structure that tries to dominate our state. We will continue our fight against all structures that target the unity of our nation, the survival of our state, our democracy and our legal order, especially FETO, with an uncompromising will. Just as those who targeted the democratic and constitutional order and the sacred will of our nation on July 15 were held accountable before the law, this Then, no structure that betrayed our state will remain in the dark, no crypto element, no front structure, no focus of betrayal will escape justice."
"We cannot think of Türkiye without terrorism apart from the spirit of unity and solidarity"
Minister of Justice Gürlek pointed out that President Erdoğan's words "I have never known a power greater than the power of the nation" are the common voice of the Turkish nation.
Reminding that 253 martyrs were martyred during the coup attempt and 2,740 heroes became veterans, Gürlek said, "On this occasion, I remember with mercy all our martyrs and our heroic veterans with gratitude who sacrificed their lives for their homeland, flag and independence on the night of July 15." he said.
Stating that the "Turkey Century" vision was built on a strong ground cleared of the insidious structure of FETO, Gürlek said, "Crowning the spirit of national unity that emerged after July 15 with a new constitutional text with which our nation will establish a strong bond is one of the most important goals of the Turkey Century. We cannot consider our vision of a terror-free Turkey separately from this spirit of unity and solidarity that emerged after July 15. This vision is the vision of 86 million citizens saying 'One nation, one flag, one homeland, one country.' "It is to unite around the concept of 'state'." shared his opinion.
"The judiciary will continue its fight against FETO"
Minister of Justice Gürlek stated that up-to-date information regarding the FETO structure was shared with different countries from all over the world and that the international processes necessary for the extradition of criminals were carried out with great care.
Emphasizing determination regarding the extradition of fugitive FETO members, Gürlek said, "We are determined to bring the members of this treason network to justice, no matter where in the world they escape." he said.
Minister Gürlek pointed out that the current situation of the FETO structure is being followed down to the smallest detail and said, "As on the night of July 15, threats targeting our unity and well-being will never be tolerated. The Turkish judiciary and our state continue and will continue to fight in a way that befits the epic of July 15 and the sacred trust for which our martyrs sacrificed their lives." made his assessment.
There are more than 10 thousand FETO convicts and detainees in prisons
Gürlek also shared information about the investigations and cases carried out after the coup attempt and stated that all 289 coup cases were adjudicated and the appeal phase of 241 of them was completed.
Gürlek informed that action was taken against 720 thousand 580 people on the charge of "being a member of an armed terrorist organization", that the investigation against 54 thousand 27 people and the trial against 29 thousand 909 people are continuing.
Stating that 127 thousand 102 people were convicted within the scope of FETO, Gürlek stated that 124 thousand 861 people were acquitted, 11 thousand 107 people were "deferred from the announcement of the verdict", 373 thousand 642 people were not prosecuted, and 32 people were given other decisions.
Minister Gürlek noted that more than 10 thousand FETO convicts and detainees are still in prison.
