A dinner was organized in Adana in honor of the relatives of martyrs, veterans and their families on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
Governor Mustafa Yavuz and his wife Süreyya visited the tables one by one and chatted with the families of the martyrs and veterans in the program held at the Nezihe Yalvaç Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Practice Hotel.
In the program, which started with the recitation of the Holy Quran, a video was shown showing what happened during the coup attempt of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) on July 15, 2016.
In his speech in the program, Governor Yavuz said that in the video they saw, the tanks, planes, helicopters, weapons and bullets entrusted with the nation's taxes to be used in the defense of this country were again treacherously pointed at the children of this nation.
In the same video, Yavuz stated that when it comes to homeland, flag, democracy, republic, independence, unity and solidarity, they saw the heroic sons of this nation shielding their chests from guns and bullets without blinking an eye, and said:
"This is truly one of the greatest struggles that this nation has put up heroically. While the treacherous FETO was raining bullets on this nation, this nation defenselessly shielded them with its chest. It protected its country, its state, its independence, and hopefully it will forever. We are in the 10th anniversary of July 15, the night of that dark, treacherous coup attempt. We still cannot finish telling what happened that night for 10 years, and we still see new acts of treachery with each passing day." "We see in new revelations that our state continues its all-out struggle with determination. We will continue today as we did yesterday. Because we are responsible for preserving and defending the unity, solidarity and independence of our country forever."
Yavuz stated that they witnessed the sons of the Taurus Mountains defending their country heroically on July 15, just like yesterday, in Adana, and that the sons of this geography drank the sherbet of martyrdom without blinking an eye at different points in Ankara and Istanbul.
Stating that this year the theme of "Our Will, Our Victory" was discussed, Yavuz continued as follows:
"That day, a will was made at the expense of our lives. A will was made against the FETO scoundrels in the squares, streets and fields in our 81 provinces and victory was won. Hopefully, we will continue together forever by crowning this victory. But this should not end here. We need to transfer what happened to future generations. We need to protect our republic, democracy, independence, unity, solidarity and our country much more. We need to be more united with each other. We need to hold on tightly. In that respect, we need to take care of our country by learning lessons from this and passing these lessons on to future generations.
Yavuz wished God's mercy to those who were martyred and deceased veterans for the sake of their homeland, flag, sacred values, unity, solidarity and independence, and wished a healthy, peaceful and happy life to the surviving veterans.
