In Adana, carnations were left on the graves of the martyrs and prayers were said on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
The Holy Quran was read for the martyrs at the ceremony held at the Alihocalı District Cemetery in the Central Yüreğir district.
Governor Mustafa Yavuz, who attended the program, left carnations on the graves of twin police officers Ahmet and Mehmet Oruç, who were martyred in Ankara Gölbaşı during the coup attempt of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) on July 15, 2016, and expressed his condolences to father Ali Oruç and mother Senem Oruç.
Wishing God's mercy to all the martyrs, Yavuz said:
"Until 10 years ago, our brothers Ahmet and Mehmet Oruç were the children of brother Ali and sister Senem. Now, for 10 years and from now on, our twin martyrs will live and continue to live as brothers and children of 86 million people. Thanks to them, today we live in freedom, independence, peace and security. We will keep their memory alive and continue to do so. We will protect our country, our unity and solidarity more. We will be more united than yesterday. Dear Mr. Under the leadership of our President, this coup attempt was overcome 10 years ago. From now on, we will walk to the future together, with 86 million people joining hands, arm in arm, ensuring our unity and solidarity, without forgetting the sacrifices of our martyrs."
Father Ali Oruç stated that he was proud of his children and said, "How happy I am that they willingly gave their lives for the country. I am happy and at peace. God Almighty gave us their trust and took their trust. May God have mercy on all our martyrs. May God bless our President." he said.
Governor Yavuz and his entourage later visited the grave of Infantry Specialist Sergeant Halit Yaşar Mine, who was martyred at the Istanbul 66th Mechanized Infantry Brigade Command while trying to prevent the coup attempt, in Asri Cemetery.
Expressing his condolences to Baba Mustafa Mine, Governor Yavuz left carnations on the grave of the martyr.
Governor Yavuz also visited the grave of police officer Yunus Uğur, who was martyred in the bomb attack on the Aviation Department facilities in Gölbaşı, at Buruk Cemetery and met with father Ramazan and mother Asiye Uğur.
Governor Yavuz was accompanied in his programs by 6th Corps Commander Major General Mehmet Yasin Kalın, Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality Güngör Geçer, Provincial Police Chief Ahmet Hakan Arıkan and Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Major General Coşkun Sel.
