23 suspects who were detained in the investigation into the allegation that "donations collected on behalf of the Friends Association were transferred to the accounts of the suspects" were referred to the courthouse.
The proceedings of 24 suspects, including singer Haluk Levent, the founder of the association, carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, were completed at the Financial Crimes Department of the Istanbul Police Department.
While 23 of the suspects were referred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan, 1 was released after the procedures.
On the other hand, the procedures for 17 suspects detained by gendarmerie teams are continuing.
The Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Fighting Branch Directorate, under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, carried out activities to prevent the crimes of "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime", "aggravated fraud" and "laundering of assets resulting from crime" and to capture the suspects.
In this context, as a result of the MASAK reports prepared for the employees of the Friends Association, account activity investigations and technical and physical follow-up activities, it was determined that the suspects had high amounts of money movements that were incompatible with their financial profiles, that high amounts of money were transferred between them, that they placed bets by transferring large amounts of money to their games of chance accounts and lost large amounts of money in this way, and that they also carried out many chain deed transfer transactions among themselves in a short time.
Within the scope of the investigation, 17 suspects, including singer Haluk Levent, the founder of the association, who were determined to be members of the Dude Association and affiliated with the association's employees, were detained in an operation carried out on July 12. As the investigation continued, 7 more suspects were caught.
17 more suspects were detained in the simultaneous operation organized by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch Directorate in Istanbul, Izmir, Kocaeli and Muğla.
