The number of people detained within the scope of the investigation carried out against the Friends Association under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has increased to 38.
An investigation was launched against Haluk Levent by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office upon allegations of irregularities in the non-governmental organization Ahbap Association, which he founded in 2017. Haluk Levent was detained in Bursa within the scope of the investigation launched against him on allegations of "opposition to the law on associations", "laundering of assets resulting from crime" and "membership in a organisation". While 23 suspects were detained in the first stage of the operations, it was learned that 14 of the 17 suspects for whom detention orders were given in the second wave of the operation were referred to custody. Thus, the number of detainees increased to 37.
While the activities to capture the suspects continue within the scope of the investigation, another suspicious person was taken into custody by the police teams.
