At the conference held at Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, it was emphasized that July 15 is a historical turning point that reflects the spirit of unity and solidarity of the nation. Following the program, protocol members, veterans and relatives of martyrs visited the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day Memorial Center and signed the Memorial Book.
Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University (AİÇÜ) organized a conference titled "15 July: Grandmothers and Şerife Sisters Who Keep the Spirit of Çanakkale Alive Couldn't Calculate" within the scope of the 10th anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.
Ağrı Governor Önder Bozkurt, Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University Rector Prof. attended the program held at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Culture and Congress Center Selçuklu Conference Hall. Dr. İlhami Gülçin, provincial protocol, veterans, relatives of martyrs, academic and administrative staff, students and many citizens attended.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, AİÇÜ Rector Prof. Dr. İlhami Gülçin stated that our beloved nation wrote a historical epic by protecting its homeland, flag, state and national will on the night of July 15, 2016, and said, "The spirit of unity, solidarity and sacrifice demonstrated that night has become one of the strongest manifestations today of the same spirit that carried our nation to victory in Çanakkale, the War of Independence and in every period of our history." he said.
Minister of Internal Affairs Advisor Hatice Atan, who was a speaker at the conference, emphasized that July 15 was not only the prevention of a coup attempt, but also a historical turning point in which the nation claimed its independence and future.
"On the night of July 15, this beloved nation protected its homeland, flag and independence at the expense of their lives, just like in Çanakkale. Our women who took to the squares that night once again made Nene Hatun's courage and Şerife Sister's sacrifice alive and wrote an epic that will never be forgotten in our nation's memory. While we commemorate our martyrs with mercy and gratitude, we express our gratitude to our veterans; I believe that it is our common responsibility to pass this spirit on to future generations."
After the conference, Prof. Dr. İlhami Gülçin visited the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day Memorial Center with protocol members, heroic veterans and martyrs' relatives and signed the 15 July Memorial Book.
