AK Party Izmir Provincial Chairman Bilal Saygılı stated that despite the promises made for the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality service building, which was damaged in the earthquake on October 30, 2020 and collapsed in 2022, a new one could not be built.
In his written statement, Saygılı reminded Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay's promise to rebuild the building in its old location during the election period and claimed that Tugay did not keep his promise in the intervening 4 years.
"When he was a candidate, Cemil Tugay promised that the municipality service building would be rebuilt in its old place in Konak Square, in its old size, but with a symbolic architecture, and that the staff from the Fair would move there. At this point, none of the promises have been realized. Izmir is still waiting for the service building."
