The fire that broke out in the agricultural area in Gemlik was taken under control before it spread to the forest area, thanks to the coordinated intervention of the forestry department, fire brigades and citizens.
The fire, which was thought to have been caused by burning stubble in Gemlik district of Bursa, was extinguished before it got bigger with the intervention of the teams in a short time. 3 flame extinguishing helicopters, 6 water tankers, 2 water tankers, approximately 40 forest personnel and 6 service vehicles participated in the extinguishing activities. In addition to fire brigades, villagers also supported the work with water tankers.
As a result of intense air and land activities, the fire was taken under control and extinguished before it spread to the forest area. Cooling activities of the teams continue against the risk of re-ignition in the region.
Gemlik Forest Enterprise Manager Remzi Artar stated that the fire was brought under control in a short time thanks to the rapid and coordinated intervention of the teams. Emphasizing that citizens should be more careful during this period when agricultural activities intensify in the summer months, Artar especially warned against burning stubble.
