In the extraordinary general assembly of Izmir's 112-year-old club Altay, which was interrupted on May 11 due to the lack of a presidential candidate and completed today, the appointment of a trustee to the club was brought to the agenda as no one was interested in the management. When there was no presidential candidate in the election held at the Türkiye Active Football Referees and Observers Association Meeting Hall in Izmir Ataturk Stadium, the task remained with the current president Sinan Kanlı and his management.
It was reported that Sinan Kanlı, who decided not to run for the presidency again, had the right to apply to the relevant court and request the appointment of a trustee in accordance with the Sports Clubs and Sports Federations Law No. 7405. This time, 63 general assembly members took part in today's meeting, where only 93 members who took part in the aborted election on May 11 could attend. At the end of the hopelessly completed general assembly, congress members ended the meeting by singing the Altay Anthem.
Altay President Sinan Kanlı made statements about the negative negotiations with Ahmet Nur Çebi, one of the former presidents of Beşiktaş, who was a candidate for the club. Stating that they met with Çebi 4 times both in Istanbul and Izmir, Sinan Kanlı said, "The manager rightfully did not want to pay his receivables. He asked us if we could pay off the debt to 5 million Euros. After our negotiations, we told him that we could pay off the debt for 6 million 300 thousand Euros. This time he asked us to reduce the figure to 3 million 500 thousand Euros. This is not possible. We had largely agreed on the manager's receivables. In Turkish Lira." "We could have paid off our entire debt for 350 million TL, a savings of around 750 million TL would have been made," he said.
Sinan Kanlı said that although they activated Mustafa Denizli and Mahmut Özgener to persuade Ahmet Nur Çebi, they did not get any results, and that Çebi apologized to Altay in his statement to his close circle.
A general assembly member who went to the podium to make a speech in Altay stated that a group was seeking sponsor support to aspire to the management and asked for time until the end of the month. Another club member argued that the team was on the point of disbanding and that it would be more logical for them to withdraw from the league rather than suffer different defeats in the league. It was stated that if Altay urgently finds a resource of 2 million TL, players who are in danger of being released can be kept in the team.
