While the potato harvest has started on an area of approximately 28 thousand decares in Amasya, a yield of 130 thousand tons is expected this year, 55 percent of which is industrial variety.
Potato production in the vegetable base city has been gradually spreading in recent years. Amasya, which ranks 2nd in Türkiye in onion farming, ranked 12th in potato production.

Amasya Governor Önder Bakan, who inspected the lands where industrial potatoes are harvested, said, "Amasya now produces potatoes for industry. Contract production is done. 55 percent of the potatoes produced go to industry. Amasya, which ranks 12th in potato production, will come to a better point with contract production."
A kilo of potato chips is sold in the field for 14 TL
Celalettin Çelik, one of the farmers who produce potatoes in fertile lands, said, "Chip potatoes are sold for 14 TL per kilo in the field. The important thing is healthy production. You will not find even a single rotten one in our products."
