A panel was held in Amsterdam, under the coordination of the Presidency Directorate of Communications and with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in The Hague, within the scope of the program titled "On the 10th Anniversary of July 15: Our Will, Our Victory".

The program started with the opening speech of The Hague Ambassador Fatma Ceren Yazgan and the July 15 themed video screening prepared by the Directorate of Communications.

In his speech, Yazgan said that on the night of July 15, 2016, it was shown to the whole world that the will of the Turkish nation cannot be chained.

Describing the coup attempt as an attempt to chain the will of the nation, Yazgan said, "We have shown that the will of our nation cannot be chained. The Turkish nation cannot be chained." he said.

Referring to the memory of the martyrs of July 15, Yazgan said, "We must continue this struggle quickly and determinedly in order to be accountable to those who were martyred on July 15." he said.

Presidential Communications Director Prof. Dr. In his video message to the program, Burhanettin Duran stated that on the night of July 15, 2016, members of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) targeted the will of the nation and democracy, attacked public institutions and the parliament, raided media buildings and occupied the Bosphorus bridges, which are the symbols of Istanbul.

Emphasizing that the state and nation carried out an epic resistance against this bloody coup attempt, Duran reminded that the treason network martyred 253 citizens and thousands of people were injured.

Noting that they owe the victory of that night to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's determined stance and leadership from the very first minutes, Duran stated that millions all over Türkiye heeded President Erdoğan's call and took to the streets.

Pointing out that FETO members, whose extradition Türkiye wants on an international scale, are in various countries, Duran said:

"We expect our friends to stand by us and act with a sense of loyalty against the structures that target our nation's sovereignty and democracy. Because FETO is not a national security problem that only concerns Türkiye. FETO is a clear threat to every country in which it operates."

-"National Will and Democratic Resistance: July 15 in its 10th Anniversary" panel

Following the video message, Hague Embassy Communications Counselor Assoc. Dr. A panel session titled "National Will and Democratic Resistance: July 15 in its 10th Anniversary" was held, moderated by İsmail Erkam Sula.

Speaking at the panel, Presidential Agriculture and Food Policies Board Member and former Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Dr. Mehmet Mehdi Eker reminded that he was in the Turkish Grand National Assembly on the night of the coup attempt and said that the Parliament was bombed three times and the deputies stayed in the General Assembly and in the shelter until the morning.

Emphasizing that FETO is not like any structure seen before, Eker said that the organization is a multi-dimensional and multi-layered structure and that its history dates back to the 1960s.

Eker stated that the organization has a mentality that he defines as the "protestantization" of Islam and said, "It has a side that aims to change the genetics of Islam, like a genetically modified organism." he said.

Pointing out that the organization uses the field of education as a key sector, Eker noted that exam questions were stolen through private teaching institutions and courses, and that key institutions of the state such as the police, judiciary, army, finance and foreign affairs were tried to be taken over.

Eker emphasized that the fight against the organization should not be limited only to the security dimension, and that detailed academic activities in the fields of sociology, psychology and communication are essential.

Eker, who commemorated the martyrs with mercy, concluded his words as follows:

"Never forget that FETO is a dark organization. Its image appears to be true, but it is the devil himself. We must not be deceived by him, we must not give them an opportunity and we must protect ourselves."

Turkish Maarif Foundation President Mahmut Mustafa Özdil stated that he was in Istanbul on the night of the coup attempt and that that night was followed closely in distant geographies.

Stating that they saw the return of this interest in the countries they visited within the scope of the Foundation's activities, Özdil noted that his interlocutors in many countries from Senegal to Niger told him that they watched the night of July 15 until the morning and prayed for Turkey.

Emphasizing that the Turkish Maarif Foundation was established in June 2016, before July 15, Özdil stated that the reason for the existence of the foundation was not the takeover of FETO-affiliated schools, but was based on the need to share Türkiye's experience in the field of education abroad.

Özdil said, "Life does not accept gaps. There should not be any gaps in the field of education." he said.

Expressing that the takeover of FETO-affiliated educational institutions after the coup attempt placed an additional responsibility on the foundation, Özdil explained that they had to carry out a comprehensive rehabilitation process in administrative, legal, financial, physical and academic terms in the schools they took over.

Özdil stated that the foundation operates in 66 countries today and that there are educational institutions in 57 of them, and that instead of imposing a uniform education model, they have adopted an approach that centers on each country's own needs and perspective.

-"The coup attempt led Türkiye to a more independent foreign policy line"

Istanbul Ibn Haldun University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. İsmail Numan Telci also explained that he learned about the coup attempt abroad.

Telci said that the majority of the crowd gathered in front of Türkiye's consulate in the USA the next day consisted of people from Arab and other Muslim countries, and that this picture showed the international repercussions of July 15.

Emphasizing that behind the uprising are the expectations of those who do not want Türkiye to become a more independent actor on a regional and global scale, Telci noted that this calculation has been reversed in the intervening 10 years.

Telci stated that the coup attempt, instead of weakening Türkiye, led it to a more determined, more self-confident and more independent foreign policy line, and stated that the defense industry and foreign policy were the two prominent areas in this period.

Following the panel program, the 15 July themed photography exhibition was opened to the visitors of the participants, while the film "15/07 Dawn" was screened in the commemoration program organized with Dutch Non-Governmental Organizations.
