(ANKARA) - In the operation coordinated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, detention orders were issued for 119 suspects who were alleged to have made drug dealing and posts encouraging drug use on social media. 31 of the suspects who were detained and sent to the courthouse were sent to prison.
Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that 31 people were sent to prison within the scope of the investigation carried out against suspects who were found to be involved in drug trafficking and making publications publicly encouraging the use of drugs or stimulants on social media.
According to the statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, as a result of the intelligence and technical activities carried out by the Ankara Provincial Police Department Anti-Narcotic Crimes Branch Directorate teams under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, detention orders were issued for 119 suspects who were determined to be involved in drug trafficking and encouraging the use of drugs or stimulants through social media. While 77 suspects were detained during the operation, 76 of them were referred to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office reported that three of the suspects were released after giving statements to the prosecutor's office, and 21 of the remaining 73 suspects were referred to the criminal judgeship of peace on duty with a request for judicial control and 52 for arrest.
The criminal judgeship of peace decided to impose judicial control measures on all 21 suspects who were referred with a request for judicial control. While 31 of the 52 suspects referred with a request for arrest were arrested, it was decided to impose judicial control measures on 21 suspects.
In the statement of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the investigation into the suspects who are fugitives and some suspects who are still in prison is being carried out in a multifaceted and meticulous manner.
